I am going through some of my mother's jewelry. We won't be selling any, but there are 3 daughters, a daughter-in-law, 2 granddaughters, and 2 great granddaughters, so I am trying to get a better handle on what things are and their potential value before we start divvying things up.

This brooch is 2" wide and 1 1/2" tall. My mother probably got it in the 1970s or 80s.
She liked Scandinavian jewelry. Does anyone recognize this or have a guess as to the maker? Thanks.

Sorry it still has so much tarnish - I did make an attempt to clean it but I hate cleaning silver, and I am SO bad at it.

Very nice, Book. I agree, 1970s.
I don't think Scandinavian, with that mark. The style is certainly reminiscent of Scandinavian Brutalist jewellery. Or German, or Dutch. The style, not the mark.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

If I were a daughter...I would object to great granddaughters being in the pool....

Cuz ya...it happened to me !
My grandfathers 3 way split...... me and two cousins.....was amended to add our kids.......... so it became a 10 way split.......

Komo - it will be basically a three way split - the grands, DIL, and great grands not there, but we will choose something nice for each of them.

By the way, this brooch is stored in a Shreve, Crump & Low bag, in a Shreve, Crump and Low jewelry box, if it makes a difference. Possibly a gift from my father.

No, it has a fineness mark, for instance 830, and usually a country mark and an assay mark specific to a town, and often maker's marks as well.
