Steel alligator with horse hair?

    I am sure this is from the southwest and have seen very similar steel alligators signed by other artists. But none I could find have what appears to be horse hair on them. I thought this is more more common on pottery. In fact I cannot find another example of horse hair on any kind of metal sculpture. Any ideas will be most appreciated.

    Sorry about the pictures. I also forgot to mention that this piece measures about 14 inches long and weighs just over 3 pounds

    It's not a gator.
    It's a gecko or some other type of lizard.

    You are right. I thought it was an alligator and then found it was a lizard when I began to research it. I guess my original notion just planted itself in my mind.
