Curious as to what years the number is INCISED--is this blackbirds figurine is earlier? Am seeing many with stamped numbers.

Secondly, the artist name for these initials...I could not find a source to help with this.

Thanks in advance! Hope all the moms here have a great day!

My book lists these as #3490 American Redstarts. It pictures two examples and says the paler color, which I believe is what you have, is the wartime color. That would put in the the 1941-1945 time range. The piece was produced from 1941 - 1965 all told. The piece was renamed Double Redstart by the end of 1941. The color variation doesn't seem to make any difference as far as value (at least according to the book). Source is Collector's Encyclopedia of Stangl Artware, Lamps, and Birds by Runge. ISBN 1-57432-454-3.

Thanks so much! That is a great help--so glad it is early. Does your book, by any chance, have an artist list to match my initial/signature?

My book does list signatures but I didn't see yours. The majority of birds were decorated at either the Flemington or the Trenton plant. The Flemington initials always ended with -F so I think we could rule any of the Flemington decorators out. As for the Trenton the book says: "Following are the initials of a few of the Trenton bird decorators. This is certainly not a complete list but some of the more prolific decorators have been identified. Some of the initials actually used on the birds are much more stylized than typesetting allows." Only one of the set of initials that follows this paragraph is three initials and that mark is AES. I think yours may be one of the stylized signatures that they couldn't type set (if they recognized it at all).

So very kind of you to take your time to help me. Gives me so much needed info for the listing. And for the future, I gained so much knowledge from this. Thank you again.
