Stamped China set of two small pottery bird pitchers w/lids

    chi2.jpg chi3.jpg Any idea what these are used for? Any special name? 5" across or so. Thinking vintage or newer, all thoughts appreciated. :)

    Interestingly, the mark is "China, Yixing." Yixing isn't really known for celadon.

    Probably water droppers, but not very practical with those loose lids: you need to control the flow of water carefully, usually with your finger over the airhole.

    Perhaps these are a decorative version of a water dropper.

    With those loose lids, vinegar and soy sauce pots might be a more practical use. As well, they usually come in pairs, unlike water droppers.
