st clement france cup

    hi, the cups say 5004 st clement france, the saucers have Lynnville Peint main france.. are they suppose to go together?

    Surely they must. Peint main just means hand painted.

    All I learned is that St. Clement and Luneville were different companies but came under the same ownership in 1922. Your dishes are not majolica, which has a white underglaze.

    It's spongeware. See that border? Typical. Definitely not majolica or faience, which have tin glazes with white underneath. Yours are spongeware decorated pottery. Luneville did sponged faience as well.
