Hi all, I was at an estate sale on the weekend and it was sad, quite a few of the items I bought I had sold to the deceased person. This one I thought I had asked about here but can't find it - I think the response was a spice or salt box? Or maybe I'm remembering wrong. So I apologize if I've asked before. It is 6 1/2"L x 4"H, has damage. What kind of wood is this? Date on the bottom looks like 1947. I've been looking on-line and not really finding similar.
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

The inscriptions are in Hungarian. I have seen similar carving on Hungarian gates and farmdoors in rural areas. So Hungarian folk art. I like it.:)

Kézölt means handmade in Hungarian (google). On the other side is the maker's name, József (something).
