    Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased this little vase, which could be a food storage vessel from China. I'm wondering if anyone has an idea about how old it is; the person I bought it from believed it was around the Song Dynasty, which would make it between c.960-1279AD?

There is no maker's mark and there is a slight rough surface at one point which is pictured in one of the photographs, which makes me think it had a small handle at one point which has come away. If it really is nearly 1000 years old, I think it is in remarkable condition considering?

Any advice would be appreciated, even if it turns out to be completely unexpected!

    Thanks,

    Emilio.

    Welcome, Emilio.
I agree with blooey, it is 19th century. This is called Provincial Ware, made for household use.
Song dynasty ceramics are generally more refined.

I like the glaze, it's got a lovely texture, and I like the simple honest shape. Would it have had a lid, originally?
