Collage, watch parts and Old Father Time, rather a banal concept, possibly classed as steampunk.

Shadow box assemblage, using old clock parts, mostly.

Well, I defer to your more specialized knowledge, AF. The "big" one in front and the longish axles on the cog wheels upper right, made me think clock.

    Steam punk came later.

It is an interesting picture, but King Kong's arm is at an awkward angle from the man's wrist.
    Throws everything off for me.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I actually have a soft-spot for oddball (sophomoric?) stuff like this. I like how it's offset in its little box in the larger white box. It kinda speaks to me. Says...
"Hi, I belong in a low-rent but cool-location flat inhabited by a hipster who knows how to throw a party." It's fun. I like.

For what it's worth, the print part is St. Matthew and the Angel, attributed to Karel van der Pluym, in the North Carolina Museum of Art.

I think time and mortality are the themes. The fact that the painting can be identified probably doesn't have a bearing. It's interesting. Those assemblages where people depict cars, planes and whatnot made from old clock parts were popular. Don't know if they still are. I think this should find a similar market.

Since the painting is in N. Carolina, I'm curious if that's where this was found. It's likely where the print came from.
