Featured Some Kind of Bone Carving or Scrimshaw

    I picked this up at a sale.1 3/4" tall and measures 3 3/8" x 1 3/4". Is this bone or resin?

    Resin with "plastic" flat head screws.It could have been cast from a mold of an original carved bone piece.

    Incidentally I recently saw a very similar piece in a thrift store that was definitely real bone. This one here I agree is resin. I didnt buy the one I saw because they wanted $130 for it. Mondays are half-price there... I'm going to swing back by and see if it's still there this Monday.

    it seem resin.. im a bone carver. you can try to burn it a little, it will smell like plastic.
