This piece was part of a shelf lot, but I thought I would run it by the forum to see if anyone had any ideas what it might have held. It is actually concave on both top & bottom, but the depression is deeper on the top. The bottom has quite a bit of shelf wear around the edge.

    It is 5 1/8" across & is 1 3/8" thick.

Thanks for any & all opinions or advice!!!:kiss::kiss:

That would be one massive paperweight. :jawdrop::jawdrop::eek::eek::happy::happy:

I just did some searching around & I guess I never realized paperweights came as large as 5" tall. :p:p

But not deep enough to support a 5" paperweight. What about a bowling ball? Or something that big around - Basketball?. Probably a support piece for something that big around for a trophy or display case.

It may surely not be a paperweight stand ...but just as an fyi...
I have paperweight stands (though not exactly like this) that are not deep at all...they are just used to lift up the weight to allow light to penetrate all around. And the PW would not have to "fill" the stand...so PW does not have to be 5".

It could be a display stand for almost anything..;)

Have you tried putting it on top of printed material - as in a magnifying glass?

I checked & it did not really provide any magnification.

I wonder. Lumps like that were sold to have things like lace pieces and photos added to magnify them.
