    This piece is marked CHINA on the back. It appears to be one piece & from what I have learned is a brushwasher dish & a double vase.

    It is 4 1/4" to the top of the smaller vase & is 4 3/4" across by 2 1/2" front to back.

    Is there a name for this coloring of soapstone? Any guesses as to age of the piece?

    I love how the leaves float in the air above the bowl.

    @Mat seems to have a collection. Maybe he can chime in.

    Hi, I really don't know how to date this, a lot of those seem to have been made in the late 19th / early 20th c, but later too, and the style has not changed much...

    I use this label history as a reference and it matches @Mat 's age range - see chart at bottom. I don't see it as an absolute indicator but since it has the name "China" in the chart as 1891-1949 or after 1978, it seems to jive. http://www.coxsackie.com/reference/cooaadt.htm
    Check the bottom for wear. Soft stone is easy to damage.

    @KikoBlueEyes @Mat

    I appreciate both of your input!! :happy::happy::happy:

    I just thought it to be an unusual piece, both in color & form, from what usually comes through the auction house. It came out of a local estate that has yielded some interesting pieces. So for $10 I thought I would give it a shot. :D:D

    We will see what the ebay buyers out there think. :p:p
