I was browsing around and found a modern looking 925 piece listed. The mark wasn't very easy to read and I couldn't quite make it out but it was a whirling dervish, 925 and what I think is Mevlana. If it's meant to be the place, Mevlana, Turkey, is the mark right for Turkish sterling? (not that I know Turkish sterling other that what I see on the 925/1000 website).

I started looking for info on the company and found this piece with a clearer mark. It does concern me a little that the seam looks a bit....non silver....so thought I'd see if anyone knows this mark. This isn't the piece I was looking at but the mark is better.

There doesn't appear to be a bad seam, whoever was responsible for cleanup after soldering didn't do their job and clean the excess solder flow.If it were plated you would not see the solder seam.

Not a clue in Mevlana, SiS. If it is from Turkey (a big IF) it would have to be after 1942 (at least) and 925 is higher than their usual 900 standard.

Yeah I don't know either. It seems odd not to find more items.

Mevlana or Maulana means our master. It is the title of Jalal ad-Din Rumi, a 13th century Sufi mystic and founder of the Mevlevi order to which the whirling Dervishes of Konya, Turkey belong. Rumi is buried in Konya
Hence the combination of the name Mevlana and the Dervish in the mark.

This was probably made by a Mevlevi Sufi manufacturer. Despite religious suppression by the Turkish government (which will only get worse in future), there are many Sufis in Turkey. They are allowed to hold their Zikr ceremonies, if presented as cultural entertainment.
They can also use the name Mevlana. There is even a Turkish tea brand called Mevlana.
In most other Muslim (and Christian) countries they can practice freely.
