Wood figure on marble base. What era? (1910-20's Italian souvenir??) I'm sure this is "after" some famous scene, but have no idea what.

This was an estate purchase at a home that had some pretty cool antiques, and blessedly there was a snow storm and hardly any shoppers so I got this for $2.

Not even sure how to describe this for resale. Has anyone run across similar? All thoughts appreciated.

This full sun shot makes it look way more "orange" than real life, but shows details:

She looks in the tradition of sculptures characterized as Bathing Venus.

Thanks Bronwen and AJ. It was a no brainer at $2, but I don't know how to even list this or what to expect value wise. I was thinking of starting at $35, with an auction (maybe 10 day, to allow more views). Corners on the marble have some chips/issues. I can list "wooden sculpture on marble characterizing Bathing Venus" using wording above (if okay.) I worry it's going to get lost on Ebay, as it doesn't really have narrowly searchable terms. Hoping to re-home this.

Are you sure it's wood? Looks bronze to me.

Yup...zoom it, MOS...wood, for sure. Her head appears to have been reattached.

Gosh, now I'm not sure! Taking a second look.

Wow, good eye. Yep. I hadn't seen that.

I assumed wood based on weight of the item, fairly light on top when you have the piece in the hand. Very unbalanced with the marble being 95% of the weight. The temperature of the top part also suggests wood. I had this in an unheated room, brought it in to examine it further and within seconds the top part was near room temperature, with the base being quite cold.

Since the head appears to have been reattached, maybe also argues for wood.

But I still want to look more carefully to be sure of material. Obviously bronze is a more likely material, but want to be sure what is what.

    Thanks!

The first pic makes her look like painted spelter, but on second pic, I'm sure it is wood:cyclops:
Yes for head seeming re attached.
Take your time to fully "analyze" the material;)
