Featured Small wooden pot - tribal

Hello all

I have here a small wooden pot with an inlaid pattern decorated in a tribal design. I have seen these lizards before but cannot pin down where. 8cm tall

I believe it is Indonesian, made of a section of bamboo with a wooden base, possibly a lime container (used in combination with betel nut). It would originally have had a wooden lid. @Any Jewelry might be able to pinpoint the island of origin.

You are absolutely right, it is Indonesian. It is beautiful.
I think it is from what is called Nusa Tenggara, the eastern islands of Indonesia. A region which I don't know that much about, I know more of the Western islands.

Timor is one of the Eastern islands, but I am also thinking of Savu, a smaller island with a Javanese influence. They use more floral motifs and elegant scrollwork than the Timorese. Their wares are often sold as Timorese, since they are shipped through Timor.
