Makanudo There is no such thing as simple.Simple is hard.

Copper seems to be base material under some yellow emulsion

That yellow emulsion might be lacquer? I've seen that on copper before...not sure what you can do about it though.

I made a mistake and started cleaning it. Thats when emulsion started to come off on some places

I did that once to a nice little copper ashtray. I ended up putting it out for a yard sale cause I didn't think there was any way to salvage it.

I guess you could just strip off the rest of the lacquer unless someone has a better suggestion of fixing it.

I would first like to find out the origin... That would give me better idea on what to do next.

All I can say is that it is not likely to be American. If it is Indian, Asian, or Middle Eastern, it was likely made for a Western Market. Could be European. It has definitely been lacquered. About the only way to deal with it is to use a methylene chloride paint stripper on it. Lacquer thinner will cut it but not quickly enough to be effective. I don't see enough value here to make it worth messing much with it.

It comes off very easy with plain ketchup believe me.
    Thanks
