While I had the camera out and the box of old jewelry open, I figured I would take some pictures of this cutie. Just shy of 1 inch across and with a frame and pin/clasp combination that says old to me (at least from what I have learned from reading this Forum.) The only mark is miniscule, but the supermacro function was able to pick up decent detail.

Do you think this was made in Italy? Pre-1900?

Yes, 1900s and yes, Italy. I can't remember what the FAP mark is, my brain may start working.

    Thank you so much, OBB!

Would another picture of the pin, the C-clasp and hinge help to pin it down (no pun intended ;) )

Just wanted you to know I did see this one. Lovely little specimen, much nicer than most later ones. Absolutely wowed that anund could ID FAP.

I just googled the name and WOW they're all beautiful!

This is one of the pieces my mother had squirreled away in her jewelry drawer that had not seen the light of day in ages. When my sisters and I piled it all up on the coffee table and started choosing it ended up in my little pile. None of us had seen a lot of what was there, so it took quite a while. And there were no "notes" about who previously owned what, so there were plenty of mystery items.

Fabbrica with two "b"s. I'm also seeing maker's name as Angelo Pessarisi. Of Florence. (Fabbrica, of course, means "factory" but think, in this case, "workshop" closer in meaning.) Which ever... Pessar or Pessarisi. He did lovely work.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

As you visit and hang around here more and more, you'll continue to be wowed by anund's genius. He's been doing this for years! We are very lucky to have him as a member. (And also there are many other knowledgeable members -- I'm happy you are here, Bronwen.)

    What goes around...

Just saw an eBay listing for a micromosaic frame that reminded me very much of one I have. Seller showed FAP mark & IDed as Fabbrica Angelo Pessar. I don't think I ever checked my frame for any marks, the cameo was my primary interest, but, sure enough, frame is marked FAP. Trying to do a little research brought me back here, to a thread I had forgotten.
