    Posted this over in the finds thread - picked it up for 3 dollars at the Goodwill the other day. Marked CZECHO-SLOVAKIA on the base. Caught my eye because of the form and the crisscrossing pinstripes. Anyone have any thoughts on what this was for? The base of the stopper is chipped and there's a small chip on the rim.

    Between the wars with that mark with the hyphen. How tall is it?

    3 7/8" (about 10cm) without the stopper...stopper goes about an inch more.

    Interesting update on this 3 year old thread - was doing a quick run through a local thrift store the other day and found this bottle's sister... same size, shape, identical except for the enamel/painted decoration - and the new one is marked TCHECO-SLOVAQUIE, so intended for the French or French speaking market.

    They might have had matching atomizers & possibly even a powder jar originally.

    I take it the second one was without a stopper.

    How big is the opening? I have a couple of clear ball type stoppers laying around here if you are interested.

    Yes the second one is missing it's stopper. I'd be happy to pay you for one if you have one that might fit. I'll get the measurements...the opening on bottle #2 is slightly wider (maybe 2mm or so) than bottle 1 for some reason, probably just a matter of the thickness of the glass.

    @bercrystal

    The opening on the new bottle is approx 18mm at the bottom of the opening, a little wider towards the top of course.

    I will check out the measurements of the ones I have available. I did grab one out of the box that I thought might work, but it is just a couple of mm too large. :oops:

    Small point. at the time, being written in French didn't neccessarily mean made for that market. It was as much a lingua franca as English: sometimes seen as classier, especially as it had been the language of the Russian court.
