Does anyone have info on this piece, the artist or what it could be used for? It's signed on the bottom but very hard to read. Thanks!

    The piece measures 4.5" x 4" x 2"

    Appears to be Mexican pottery.
    I see "Lue??n R?????"

Have you tried rubbing corn starch and light dusting to see what letters stand out?

Forgot to say, I think the black pottery comes from Oaxaca region.

This type of black pottery, with white decoration, is actually from Chile, rather than Mexico.

Although similar black pottery is found in many areas of the world, the white incised patterns are traditional and unique to the area around the Chilean city of Quinchamalí.
