This little vase is impressed Austria 706 on the underside. There is also a mark opposite that looks like an impressed "a", but may be a clue to the maker. Does anyone have any ideas? The vase is small, measuring about 6 inches in height and 3-1/2 inches in diameter at the widest point. It weighs 6.1 ounces. The flower design is repeated on both sides. The color between the flowers is a dark green, with some variations in shading and perhaps a hint of iridescence. Thanks for any help! ... Dave

I wonder whether that is actually a beehive, Dave.

A term I hadn't heard before, but I just googled beehive vase and see some there. Could you tell me more?

I know nothing. :hilarious: But I have seen painted beehive marks on pottery from Europe (on the boards here and on PGP on eBay) and it struck me as a similar shape.

BTW - like I said I know nothing, but are you sure this is glass? It's lovely!

OOPS, no -- it is not glass, my mistake. I'm so glad you asked me that. It is porcelain.

Commonly called a beehive but it's actually a shield, a Bindenschild.

The technique for the flower is called tube-lined.

Thank you -- I knew there must be a name for the technique. The piece was described as being similar to Moorcroft when it came in, which I see makes sense when I google tube lined pottery.

I see work by Julius Dressler that looks similar.
