    Hello

I live in England and so does my seller.
    Seller's description;
"17th Century antique oak gateleg table of pleasing small proportions and wonderful colour, standing tall on the original feet. Two hinges original and two replaced".

    MEASUREMENTS
    Height:
    73 CM
    Width:
    108 CM
    Depth:
    91 CM
Is the price of £1,050 reasonable for this? Can you confirm its age?

Looks right to me ! Lots of age signs there. The handle looks like it might be replaced,is there a way to get a pic of the inside front? Just to see if theres other holes or ghost marks. Im just an amateur though, wait for others more knowledgeable .

Look like there was once an oval escutcheon. Things get replaced over time, and you can find another replacement, there are replicas.

I’m curious about the screws in the hinges. At least one looks to be machine cut, which would date it past 1770. But the rest look to be hand-cut, and not very well. Or possibly some sort of rivets? Hard to tell with all the corrosion.

Yes, in the lower part of the hinge (on the photo) seem to be rivets, could be one or two in the top half as well. The screw(s?) could be a replacement.
As for the table itself, not entirely sure of 17th century, maybe first half 18th, but others may have a better idea.
It is lovely though. The top needs some tlc, but I'm sure those stains can be dealt with.

Two hinges were replaced at a much later date, so that could be why screws were used

The screws are way later, so is that handle - 19th C. 17th C would have been pegged with nailed hinges.

The top has real age, but I'm not sure the legs do. Or at least, not as old as the top. THey're very shiny in not the right way and look a bit out of proportion. Top is nice and delicate, legs a tad clumpy. Mind you, if it's country made, that might explain it.

I do think even if 17th, it's overpriced.

Agree with O'Bear on the legs/feet-17th century legs would've sustained the blows of many big & little feet anxious for their porridge and beef or a heated game of checkers/draughts.

Geez-Europe,furniture from the 1600's ! If you found a 17th century documentable, provenanced piece made in States-you'd be on the news. There might even be a documentary abt it (with dramatizations of the Salem Witch Trials or some other hokum).
