slate mantle clock

    I have a slate and marble mantle clock c 1880 which has become dulled. I am wondering how best to clean it. Any suggestions.

    I've found paste wax, such as Butchers works - it provides some oils for the drying out and once buffed, adds a nice sheen.

    Clean with soap & water, rinse, dry. Then use Teak oil, it will not build up and it will penetrate into the stone.
