Since we're discussing crocks - what about this one

    Picked up at a yard sale. A little over 7" tall. Probably had a cover at one time. I'm not familiar with this shape.

    It had a lid for certain. Pickles maybe?

    I have a bunch of crocks - some with lids - and I'm almost certain I have a small lid that would fit this. It's too small for a beanpot. I've seen them sell with obviously non-matching lids.

    I think you could call it a wax sealer, with a tin lid down in the opening sealed with wax. But the impression around the outside of the top looks like it might have had another outside cover. I think that might just be a red herring though, sealing inside solely.
