Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

But with my quirky memory, am hoping I DIDN'T do this before!!!! It's a booklet on learning "Self Learning Real Pen Work and Penmanship" from 1881, and it's basically in not very good condition! However, the images inside are in decent shape! There is ONE page missing which I have not a clue what might have been on it. Was one of MY finds that I got to keep the summer DH and I worked for Mom cleaning out one of her OLD house buys......wanted to learn calligraphy!!!! I DID play with it for a while, but OH SO TIME CONSUMING!!!!! The book's been stuck away down stairs for quite some time!!! AND I have NOT a CLUE why there's SO much space between each image, if I try to reduce it, an image gets deleted!! 1PSX_20201213_121504.jpg 3PSX_20201213_121647.jpg 2PSX_20201213_121616.jpg 4PSX_20201213_121733.jpg 5PSX_20201213_122032.jpg 6PSX_20201213_122139.jpg 7PSX_20201213_122236.jpg 8PSX_20201213_122402.jpg

That is so touching. A little Victorian pamphlet for self-improvement.

Interesting how the pamphlet is 1881, but some of the images in it are 1882......??? AND it AIN'T as easy as they make it look!!!!! At least, it wasn't for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hours of hours upon very tedious practice... like doing scales on the piano.

I knew a trucker who always signed his name in a copperplate hand. It was a laborious task and I suspect it was the only thing he could write, but I do wonder how he came to learn it that way.

I have a collection of a couple thousand post cards. I really collect them more for the cursive writings, something the kids nowadays think might as well be hieroglyphics, it’s so foreign to them. Your post brought me back to this cards from 1936. Love the way the address is written. The P, in Pensacola and F, in Florida. :) A real dying skill. :(

I too love the old flourished handwriting.....used to have a lot of old documents as well with beautiful writing, and a lot of it was, I think done by men!

Nice -- and it is interesting that the recipient's address is in care of a beauty shop in a hotel. I looked up the hotel and found it was built in 1909 and demolished in 1993.

I pretty much agree with you there, Pearls!!! If it weren’t for the ‘One Rise Method’ and my Kitchen Aid Mixer, I wouldn’t still be making so many loaves of Stollen!!!!:joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful::D:D

Aqui you are way ahead of me. I use my stove top and my microwave only. For someone who loved to cook and bake... well that ship has sailed for many reasons. I still love my cookbooks tho and probably always will.

I read somewhere that some schools are going back to teaching cursive writing. Maybe it will become a trend!
