I think I know what this silverplated item is (hopefully I'm correct after the dramatic title...).

Thought I donated this a while back and it just turned up in a closet clean-out today. This type of item came up in a discussion about a month ago.

Please no one answer until @desperate_fun has a chance to check in.

Sugar shaker/(beep)? It would work nicely to shake cinnamon into a cappuccino too.

Desperate, I recalled you saying, that you've been dying to type: "MUFFINEER" for an answer one of these days. Happy to oblige!

The funny thing was that I had that other shaker I was asking about, and I had to look up "muffineer" to see what a muffineer was when people suggested that.

As soon as I saw photos of muffineers I thought, "Darn, I just donated one of those!" (...and  maybe I shouldn't have!)

Was cleaning out a closet corner today and there in the bag was the muffineer in question! Not yet donated!

Anyway, couldn't resist posting it as a question today. :)

I know them as sugar casters, but 'muffineer' came up as another term for them.

The term I generally use is sugar castor or caster too, but that's the British influence. I think we Yanks call them muffineers for whatever reason.

I have a friend who loves making muffins & can't resist looking around to see what else can be thrown into the batter. Some of them are more fruit than cake. 'Muffineer' always makes me think of someone like this.

Do believe it is a Muffineer. However, many a time antique silver wig-powderers are mistaken for them! (Great find for someone who discerns the difference because they are generally worth more$$!)
