It's a belt buckle I've had for some 30 years.
Just felt like showing it off .
It may not be rare, but you don't see them every day, & if anyone can help date it , that would be welcomed..!
Also, a silver mark you may not be acquainted with...
    so..............have at it...

It is marked with suitable marks for Switzerland, Germany and USA and at the time would be passable in Britain. The Swiss were still using 935 when this was marked so it must date from before they switched to 925, so early 1930s is my guess.

Decent middle of the ranking maker. I have not seen one the same but it was a period when sticking watch movements into things was a popular idea.

That's very nice. Is it for a leather belt?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I like it... Was trying to figure out how you would use the clock / watch. Looking down at your waist and flip it open? So this could best be used by people who are fairly slim in the waist area?

    What do you think, komokwa?

    a little over ...1 1/4 x 2 1/2 , if memory serves.
Made for a one inch belt I'd say .
There's a roller on one side for the loop , but not quite sure how it attached to the other side....a clip maybe ?

Yup , it flips open looking down at it ......and I've never been thin enough to wear it.
I see it for a golfer but not on the bag.
The silver is thick and with the watch it's heavy for it's size, but I'm sure it's a belt buckle.

    Here's another one:
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f11/1930s-sterling-silver-cyma-belt-buckle-golfers-watch-654194.html

Here's the ebay listing it came from - pics are not still up. Gee, it sold for $1,965.00!!
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXTREMELY-RARE-ORIGINAL-HUGE-SILVER-0-935-TAVANNES-BELT-BUCKLE-WATCH-CHRONOMETER-/230704671330?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=mvD%2BU1ofYtD3ajMgGLjVaNMRZgY%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Here is a history of the company, Tavannes. Note: one of these watches is pictured. Under the pic it says:

"A WATCH FIT FOR A KING:
The belt-buckle version of Tavannes innovative “La Captive” watch model started out as a custom order for King Edward VIII, and was eventually made available to the public, with distribution through Hermes."

Hmm.... Edward the VIII was slim enough to have read the watch; however, his portly grandfather Edward the VII never could have owned one of these.

They wore their trousers much higher then, so there probably wasn't much "overhang" of the gut.
It would have been easy to read the watch when open, because it would have stuck right out there!

I wonder if Edward didn't wear it a bit lower - and it opened by itself everytime he got a glimpse of that US girl.
