Does anyone know what this is for?

I'm not sure of the metal. There was some tarnish that came off.

    It's 9 & 1/2 inches by 3 inches by 4 inches high.

Just had it tested. It's mostly copper, then nickel and zinc.

Probably a version of an alloy known as nickel silver, German silver, and other names.
