This piece caught my eye because I recently restored a 50's claw cracker as a birthday gift for my Grandmother who lives by the shore. I think this piece, however, is much older. It features an abnormal scattered triangles design and is signed. Unfortuantely, I do not have my magnifying glasses on me. Any insights as to the period and manufacturer?

image.jpg Wow, thank you that's great! Here's a shot up close of the signature. Any idea as per value to something like this? It's got a cool patina, but it isn't in the greatest of shape

I'm not a seller, so I really have no idea what something like this might go for. But now that you know what you have, you could use those keywords to search auction sites to see if you can find comparables that have sold (or not, as the case may be.)

Heck - I have trouble with "barber shop".
It wants to come out as "barber sharp".

About the "patina". It looks like tarnish to me, not patina.

Things always look better when polished - unless there is a loss of silver plate.

Can certainly be used for whatever you like, but that is a nutcracker...

1873 catalog page, see lower right (the 'PS' in the marks is for 'Plated Steel'):
