You would need to show the bottoms so we can look at the markings. While it might be obvious to some, you are likely to learn more yourself by providing more information.

Hi! Yes, I agree. Unfortunately I do not have photos of the bottoms. The set is part of an active listing that I am considering purchasing. Just asking opinions based on the only photo I have.

JMHO the only piece that is possible sterling is the tall comport & it is likely weighted so not much actual sterling. BWDIK

No way to determine whether silver or plated from this one picture.

I'm with Cluttered. The only piece I think is probably sterling is the tall candy dish (i.e. the compote). Those are usually weighted and worth a lot less than you think. That's if they're silver, and this one looks the right color. The others... doubtful.

The little Revere bowl is a maybe. Some are sterling, probably more are not.

Okay I was able to get this photo of the only markings on the bottom of any of them (which is odd). I have no idea what these mean... ? 93088136_218789509394095_6249320824638013440_n.jpg

I agree with the other assessments 100%

I'd cross off the teapot (wrote this before I saw the photo of the bottom) mainly because of the look of the handle/cooling spacer (sorry if that's not the correct name). It looks heavy (bad) and the joint of the lid looks poorly made = plated.

I would expect to see discoloring on the dish if it was silver...and if everything is polished that means someone atleast knows the basics about silver so they probably know how to find the real stuff. Big bonus if a listing isn't polished because it might mean someone doesn't know much about what they have.

The edge of the small bowl next to the teapot looks like silverplate because if sterling I would expect that style of base would fold from downward pressure. If it had a weighted bottom there's a certain look to the base (much like the base of the compote in the photo)

I'm torn on the compote. The two positives: the tone of the bowl looks right. And the seam on the base looks right for a possible weighted sterling compote. But what doesn't look great is the chunky looking joint connecting the stand to the bowl. Most of the sterling compotes (not saying all) have a thin smooth connection with silver solder, and this is bulky which suggests it would take a lot of silver to make, and the lack of style doesn't match up. It almost looks like parts unscrew... I'm leaning towards plated even with the seam on the base (i've seen a few manufacturers mimic the weighted base style for truly unknown reasons)....

If you really wanted to know, and you didn't have additional photos, go to google images and search "silverplate compote" until you find a matching style (the shape of the stand looks similar to some rodgers syles and they made both sterling and silverplate). Sometimes you can get lucky and find the same one through pictures.

Just curious what you mean by "fold from downward pressure". I've got a couple Revere bowls in different sizes, sterling, not weighted and pretty sturdy.
