Featured Silver Date?

Any way of dating these from the style....1800's?
No Hallmarks.
Magnet sticks to Fork ends and Knife blades so presumed to be Silver Plate.
Handles do not stick, so possibly Silver?

The fact that the handles do not stick to a magnet is not a guarantee that the handles are made of silver. Where did you find these? Purchase or inheritance? Were you told anything at all about them?

 

Are you sure there are no marks at all? Sometimes they can be tiny or hidden in the design elements.

 

Belonged to my Scottish Grandmother in the 1920/30's. Where she got them from I have no idea. Will have another look for any makers marks but I'm pretty sure there are none.

It's a spiral curve,used for many engraving designs.

 

Possibly a dessert set. These usually came with a satin-lined custom-designed box made of wood or cardboard.

 

I agree Dessert or Fruit as opposed to main meal with meat.

How big are they?

 

Very cool design, I love the forks in particular. I’d think if they were marked it would be where I circled in the photo, in very small fine characters. The marks can be so fine on the thin silver on these handles that they are easily polished/worn out. Best to check a few/all of them just in case potential marks are worn off on some of them. I’ve had sets where the marks were impossible to see on some and easy to see on others.
