Silver? Cup holder?

    Hi all, I think it's a cup holder of some sort.. I just picked it up, quick look no markings..
    Any ideas?

    Good. Open at the bottom is a guaranteed indicator that it held an insert. This kind of thing is often from Russia or the Middle East, but without markings it's tough to say.

    not a demi-tasse per se - depending on size coulda held a glass insert for coffee though, I have a set of pewter ones from Italy.
