Featured Silver brooch - 835 - damaged in shipping - question about repair

Recently purchased from an overseas(France) seller on Ebay (listed as 835 silver and marcasites) - when it arrived here the package had been smushed a bit and the C clasp is now bent over at 90 degrees - and the pin is bent a bit as well. About the brooch - is it French? And how old? My other question is should I attempt to bend the C back - and straighten out the pin - or is this a better job for a jeweler? Here's some pics (also just to show off how pretty it is!)

If you have some fine pliers .....and a steady hand.....if not a good jeweler...shouldn't even ask for money...for a quick fix

 

What komo said. If you do it yourself, be sure to put a soft cloth between the pliers and the clasp to avoid scratches.
There do not seem to be any French marks, my guess is German. Germans made a lot of 800 and 835 jewellery that was never hallmarked, just marked with the silver fineness.

 

Thanks AJ - I'll give it a go myself (gently) as you and komo suggested. There is "mod dep" impressed under the 835 (hard to see in the pic I posted) - hence my thought that it might be French - or other french speaking.

 

Pliers with no teeth are the best!

Looks like you have a few missing marcasites, maybe a jeweler is the way to go?
