Silver Box With Creature On Top

    It looks to me like solid silver but could not find any marks?
    Any suggestions on the origin?

    What the HECK?
    It has a tail with a pouf at the end, scales/feathers on shoulders, pointy ears, bug eyes, five-digit hands/feet...
    Some kind of mythical critter?

    I'd think that it may have some kind of mythological features.
    What do you think of the origin? Asian, South American?
