Greetings, all. I would like to share pictures of a recent find, a silver(y) belt. Whatever it is, I rather like it and it fits perfectly.

As you can see there are seven woven strands, with four in one design and three in another. These are held together at regular intervals (almost exactly 4.5") by flat clasps decorated with floral motifs. This part of the belt looked Middle Eastern or Balkan to my eyes.

The ends look very different; much more east Asian. A highly detailed hexagonal buckle with a central raised rosette attaches by means of a concealed hook to the other end.

The belt is very heavy. My rather unreliable scale says 602 grams. It is 1.5 inches wide and some 30 inches long.

I was told was from the "Hill Tribes" and approximately 80 years old. I very much welcome your thoughts on origin and workmanship. I plan on having it tested.

Speaking of scales, can anyone recommend a good one?

One last question: is it possible to post to several fora at once? It seemed that I could just as easily posted this to the jewelry or tribal forums, but finally went with this. Looking forward to your observations.

Thank you, @komokwa. No marks that I can find, sadly.

In my experience, Asian silver was rarely marked. Lovely belt though.
