    Hello!

I'm trying to find information about that silver cigarette case (enamel, gilded inside, a reproduction of "Fighting capercaillie" Ferdinand von Wright.)
Pref. Germany or Austria late XIX - early XX century.
Legend - it's the trophy of German General ~ 1944, somwhere in Eastern Europe.

    Hallmarks weren't found.
Any suggestions about firm, manufacturer, country, and why there aren't stamps?

    Thanks!

Hello and welcome to this board. I tried to see your photos and could only open the one that showed the reverse side and marked 900. I think everyone likes it better when you post photos direct into your thread.

Is there something stamped on each side of the thumb piece? 900 on one side. Anything on the other?

It does look like it, moreother. But at too much of an angle to show up well in enlargement.

Bracket fungus. No Scot is going to be leaving coins in a tree in the middle of nowhere. Bracket fungus is one of many found on decaying wood.

In Britain I'd estimate the auction value at £150 to £200.

These enamel cases are popular but sell better with naked ladies. Two cocks is not the same.

Could it be Chinese ? Didn't they often have just the numbers stamped ?
