Hello, I found an entire bag full of these stunning embroidery patches. I found out they are by a tabacco company called Turmac and were made in the 1940's.

Amongst the patches was also one very large one:

I placed the smaller one next to it for size comparison.
Would I be right to assume this one is Turmac too?

Next to that there also were some non silk ones like these:

Any way to find out where they came from?

    Thank you!

Hello Fien, those are gorgeous. I think some of them are earlier, the flapper girl certainly looks 1920s.
Turmac was a Dutch company called the 'Turkish Macedonian Tobacco Company'. They manufactured so-called Egyptian cigarettes, a Turkish blend which was very popular in the Netherlands at the time. My grandfather always smoked Egyptian cigarettes, from a box with pyramids and camels on it.
Turmac had all sorts of merchandise, including beautiful tins:

They were located in Zevenaar, and the local museum still has a Turmac collection.
This is the site (sorry everybody, it is in Dutch):

You could ask them about your patches, this is the contact info:

Ah thanks a lot!:joyful: That tin is super lovely! Thank you for the contact info!

Thank you!! They are so beautiful!

I found the handbook for these kind of patches: Handbook of worldwide tobacco and trade silk issues, it has pictures and dates. :D http://www.csogb.co.uk/CSGB/Publications/Updates/Silks.pdf There are multiple updates around apparently.

Glare, if you're the geisha. She looks cheesed off about something.
