Featured signed marine scene oil painting ID help please

Hello, I have a wonderful very old painting in an ornate frame that I would love to identify.... place? artist? It is signed but I can't make it out 'H?. Bentley?'
Any help is greatly appreciated

 

Could/would you post a photograph of the entire back please? And close-ups of any labels, stickers or handwritten notations?

Hi Debora,
thanks for the reply - here's the back. The only thing I can see is 1101 on the back & possibly a number on the upper frame edge.

 

There was a Henry Bentley in Scotland.

 

Sure it's 1101? (Looks like there are too many strokes.) You're not curious enough to peel back paper backing to reveal?

That's very dramatic scenery, I wonder if it's famous. I hope someone knows the location.

 

I haven't been to Scotland in over 40 years but this does remind me of a ruined castle I went to there called Dunnottar. It was not far from Stonehaven. I do love Scotland but have only been there once. Could be just a worn memory.

 

Dunnottar. My, that is dramatic, isn't it?
