    Hello all,

Found a lovely Reinthal and Newman import today and I'm trying to better understand it's origins. I am stumped on the signature and I am wandering down rabbit holes on the title.

At first look I thought it was Dutch but the only "somewhat" translation I can find for the title seems to be Romanian and I don't even know if I'm seeing it right.

I don't have a guess as to the first two letters but the rest looks to me to read:
Mit ai zis which according to Google translator means "myth you said". IMG_E5971.JPG IMG_E5972.JPG IMG_E5973.JPG

Perhaps one of you can see the forest through the trees and help me with a direction.

    Best wishes (and thank you)

    Thank you Holly and Cluttered,

The "r" in Le Metairie is also in the signature which would make it Davril.
I found this information on Worthpoint: The artist has signed the work "Davril" in the lower right. "Davril" was a pseudonym for Lucien Dasselborne (1873-1962)

Dasselborne was a French artist that produced Limited Edition colored etchings with wonderful details and a high level of artistic skill. Some of his work has sold for significant money and he continues to attract a following today.
