I found this small water colour at my lock-up, it must have been there 3 years and I can't remember where I got it.

The frame and was broken so I took it out.

Ironically it is a water scene in Horning, Norfolk from 1956, where I've just spent a week on holiday.

My partner thinks the sig is Quintin Cook.

On the back is his name again then something Hill, Horning , Norfolk.
It looks like Bill Hill to me, but I can't find one in the area.

    Help would be appreciated.

Do you think it's a photograph that's been tinted by hand?

I agree... looks like a tinted photograph.

After googling and finding that there is a "Bill Hill Ancient Monument" that is nowhere near Horning, it made me wonder if it's a place not a person. (the light burns dimly in my brain sometimes)

Anyway, on a google map of Horning, there is a Mill Hill road. Do you think that might have been where he is from?

Agree Mill Hill. Does appear to be a road.

    Thanks guys.

Quinton Cook it is and his then address was Mill Hil which is just off the river Bure, Horning.

I'm unsure on it being a tinted photo as I see brush marks with a loupe.

For tinted photos, colours were hand applied, so brush marks aren't out of the question.

Horning Art Group have their meetings at the village hall which is on Mill Hill. Maybe worth asking them. Also the use of Mill Hill as an address may have been for a local art show.
