Dying to see everyone's snake rings & other jewelry! Honorable mention critters welcome, too! The older and wilder the better.

I'll start off, though my still modest collection is limited to one classic snake ring. 18k with tiny cut diamond eyes and a sweet little dimple on her nose. Husband bought her from a Dutch dealer for our 10th anniversary last year. They called it vintage without specifying dates. I think there's a chance she's already over 100, but maybe I'll post the hallmarks and get your takes in another thread

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I have one, a sterling silver brooch with sparklies. Don't wear it very often. Bought this at a jewelry shop in Boston, Massachusetts (USA) that specializes in antique pieces.

I search my photos and only 3 things show up:

    This ring:

    S&P shakers:

And this rubber snake that I've had for decades.

Once, when I had my apartment painted, I emptied the closet so they could get in there. The rubber snake was hanging from the closet pole and I didn't bother removing it - who cares if it gets spattered - but the painters opened the closet and saw the snake dangling from the pole and nearly had a fit!

So far as jewelry and other critters is concerned, I liked this sterling dragon pendant:

Alas I have no snakes that I know of. Could have gotten one the other day, but he was in a storage tub at the ReStore and the tchochke Lady freaked out and had him evicted. It was just a little garter snake, about the right size for a wrap bracelet.

Ssnakes! Here are two I think of:playful:
First is spring articulated pinchbeck or gilt brass, pastes stones, a wonderful heavy antique end 19th century costume piece.

And a latest addition, I kyratised the hairwork which was totally gone. 1860s silver head and tail.

Three gold and diamond snake rings. When I went to take a photo of the centre ring, which is my go-to ring, two others wanted to join in:

The one on the right is 1960s, the other two are antique.

French 19th century silver and citrine double headed snake bracelet, probably from Provence.
A former owner bent it like this:rolleyes:, but since I took these photos I've been able to bend it back to its original cross-over shape. Taking new photos is on my very long to do list.;)

    Not for the faint-hearted.:cyclops:

My post-1953 Dutch "cyclops" snake bangle. Possibly made by a member of the van Engelen family of Schoonhoven silversmiths.

I already posted my horn snake bangle collection here a while ago.
These also reside at my home:
The Victorian 18 carat gold, ruby and diamond chip ring is still in its original box. Its one of the only nice heirlooms I got.
The crazy green enamel ssssnake is Italian, 60-8 IMG_1954.jpeg 0s or something like that.

I bought the ivory netsuke snake for 0,50€ a few weeks ago. I believe its 19th century.
The snake next to it is a FIX, the others are gold.
The early Victorian coiled snake up front is 9 carat gold with garnet eyes. It looks so goofy!
Its one of my favorite snakes

IMG_1949.jpeg And this is what I bought today at a flea market (it was a good catch! I usually don't find these kind of things on a flea market):
I m not sure if the ring is old. It has an Indian vibe to it.
You can see which 3 pieces are my favorites...
Especially for AJ my hubby models the ring on one of the pictures :D
    Any ideas about the snake?

20th century imo. (May not be safe.:sorry:)
It is from Bali. Traditional but not very old. I also have a couple of these Balinese Naga rings and bracelets.
    Yay, man wearing jewellery!!!

    AJ, thank you!
Indeed, the ring is from Bali. I should have known.
They make really nice jewelry there though.
:( For the netsuke. Ah well, its going nowhere anyway.

An akar bahar black coral bangle from the Moluccas, Indonesia. They often heat, steam and bend coral branches into serpentine shapes because they are considered to have medicinal properties.
