I found this old bathing beauty but I can't find anything like her - she is upside down! I couldn't find a "germany" mark - she appears to be unsigned - there was a little crusty white stuff on her but it all rubs off easily - but apparently i didnt get her all cleaned up before I jumped the gun and took some piccies... does anyone have any references? It just seems sooooooooooo unusual - ohhh - she measures 2 1/2" X 2" - advanced thanxxxies

 

I know I've seen similar, but I cant remember where, and it was a whole series of figures in related poses. But it's very possible more than one company made such.

 

I recently saw some similar on Antques Roadshow. They came in various poses and seemed to have kept some value. But it may have been an older episode.

I get a Japanese vibe, mostly from the way her facial features are depicted.

 

Saw the Antiques Roadshow episode with similar. Wish I could remember more. Maybe German?

it could be japan - but it could also be Germany - it appears that the stylized features really varied from company to company - I have seen a lot of untraditional poses but I still can’t find any that are completely upside down like this one - I would think that would lead to an attribution???? My guess is that this one might be a tad more obscure than many - I don’t want to say rare - but maybe scarce - it just seems to me that a search of “bathing beauty upside down” would have turned up some kind of results if it was common… hopefully someone will come up with something more - appreciate all the views and post!

Is she doing a belly flop? There was a time I could bend all the way back.
Now if I tried that, I would break like a pretzel.

Reminds me of a snapshot photo from my collection. What's funny about this is her face appears to be almost featureless, like one of those ceramics would look without paint. But I *think* it was a real person. The pose would be hard to hold, too.
