Went to a tag sale last week in a small house with lots of clutter and found these at the back of a bookshelf in the family room.

Cambridge Glass Tall Joes or Zombies or Slim Jims whatever you want to call them. I was just checking what the resale is on them, and for something that went extinct in the early 1950s, you would think they were worth more. I think they are so cool!!!!!! Looked up the recipe for a Zombie and I don't think I could handle all that rum. No wonder they call it a Zombie.

Don't they look like they belong on StarTrek at Quark's?

To be honest, they look more like they belong on the glass shelf behind MY bar............Love'em!

Mansons - I've never had a real bar in my house, but always wanted one, just a small wet bar. Now that I can maybe afford to install one, I really don't drink any more or have any parties with people who drink. Wine and beer have taken over in my age bracket. Wait, isn't that where I started out? But back then it was cheap wine and beer.

Greg, I would love to have a set of the stubbies! I saw some on ebay and they are very nice. It looks like the seller is struggling to get $50 for them. Sigh . . . Now I'm all out of room to put stuff like that. Maybe in my new wet bar?

You've seen this site, right? I think we all chatted about it on the eBay board a long time ago:

    http://www.quarksbarb.com/details/glasses.html

I've had good luck selling several of the items listed there to Trekkies. I didn't search for your zombies, but you might give it a look when you get a chance.

    Sure ya can! ;)

UncleChuck - what big teeth you have! Positively scarey! I've seen the Quarks site and think I bookmarked it, but I'm headed over there right now to have a look. TY!

Very nice glasses. I have seen some sellers on Etsy refer to these kind of glasses as having jewel tones, but I have no idea if that is correct or not.

I never knew about the Star Trek thing, will have to investigate.

My grandparents had this long, low cabinet in their home and inside were all the
bottles of booze my grandfather loved and a huge collection of vintage barware. One time I got a sip of the chocolate liquor when I was just a teen.
I am not a drinker at all, but I always try to be on the lookout for vintage barware when I am at sales because they seem to sell over time.
    :)

I am not sure all these sets are from the 50s. I seem to recall sets of these in the stores in the 80s. However, I don't remember any in that dark green or dark amethyst so these might be old ones.

folks at chataboutdg mention Harlequin/Varitone/Rainbow as various names for these colorful Cambridge collections. "R" list them as Harlequin c1941-43

brad - these are the exact glasses that are shown in my Cambridge Glass collectors reference book. They are the exact same size and colors as shown, the only one missing is the light green called Pistachio. And Cambridge closed in the early 50s.

Don - these were called Harlequin by Cambridge. I think they said that Varitone sets were all clear transparent colors, and in the Harlequin you got 4 of each. 4 clear transparent and 4 darker colors like the dark green, dark amber. the blue and the purple.
