I have this set of spoons I'd like to get more information about. They measure about 6" long. I can't find any markings. They don't test positive for silver, so not sure of type of metal. Any information is appreciated!

This set of Apostle spoons is certainly different. A set usually consist of 12 spoons with 12 different figural finials. Each finial represents one of the 12 apostles that can be ID from what they are holding.

      • St. Andrew, saltire or X shaped cross.
      • St. Bartholomew, butcher or flaying knife.
      • St. James the Greater, pilgrim's staff.
      • St. James the Lesser, fuller's bat or club.
      • St. John, chalice or cup.
      • St. Jude, carpenters square or cross.
      • St. Matthew, money bag or axe.
      • St. Peter, key or fish.
      • St. Philip, staff with a cross on the end.
      • St. Simon, saw.
      • St. Thomas, spear.
    • Judas Iscariot is usually replaced by St. Paul (sword), St. Matthias (halberd) or St. Mark (lion). (submitted by - Patrick)
This figure is holding a book or a bag. These may be some other figural finial spoons like Moses holding the 10 commandments tablets??? Here is a page with early history on apostle spoons.
