Featured Seems to be a 2nd Century BC Tanagra type of figurine?

Hi All,
Is anyone familiar with this type of terracotta figurine? From my research, it does seem similar to the 2nd Century BCE Tanagra type of figurines from Greece and the surrounding coasts, but I have not seen those depict this type of scene (perhaps from a theatrical play of the time?). It's approximately 8 inches tall and is housed in an 18th Century Italian framed shadow box.

Maybe Eros and Aphrodite?

 

Possibly. I've seen examples, but he's usually younger in other versions, and the embrace/kiss in mine doesn't seem to fit the story.

 

I would say it is definitely Eros/Cupid; see the Eros of Centocelle for this pubescent type. Question is who is with him. Aphrodite/Venus has as one of her main attributes her near or total nudity, so I am not inclined to see her as this female figure. The most likely alternative is Psyche.

 

Your piece appears stylistically similar to this one, (looking particularly at the hair and faces), which is identified as a 19th century creation inspired by ancient examples:

I see the line of reasoning; not sure if it directly parallels my figurine. I did just find another Eros & Psyche example that has a similar pose of the characters as mine but with the versus position of the male & female figures. This one is of the same time period as the antiquity Tanagras but originates from Sicily.
