image.jpeg image.jpeg Any and all knowledge/guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have two pieces of furniture that I am curious as to what exactly they are/period of time they might be from and any other information I can get. I have limited knowledge and have exhausted most of my google searching. The first piece I purchased from an estate sale at a nunnery in our small town in Kansas. I believe it to be some type of vintage Art Deco writing desk. It appears to have had a manufacturing label on it but now gone. Also someone has attempted to do a poor stain job but quite a unique piece. The second item is what I believe to be an old hutch/armoire not sure what to call it. Purchased it from an older gentleman in town and don't have many details with the exception of it appears to be old and I loved the look of it. I have attached photos. Thank you in advance.

Your first piece is an art deco desk or, possibly, a dressing vanity if there is evidence of a mirror being attached. Likely American circa 1930. Wood looks like poplar with a dark stain to mimic walnut. Handles look like they could be bakelite.

The second is a Victorian wardrobe circa 1890. Likely walnut or a nondescript wood stained to mimic walnut. Pretty basic as far as these go.

I thought vanity as well however I see nothing to indicate something was attached to the top. I've just searched and couldn't find anything that had that type of design on the front of it. So I was stuck. These are items I'm keeping but just out of curiosity what would be your guess on resale in a city say like Phoenix or in general? By the way... You're amazing. I truly appreciate all the info.

Unfortunately, not all that much. Maybe $100.00 on the desk and a couple hundred on the wardrobe at retail here in the Midwest. Much less at auction or other wholesale venues. I don't know the Phoenix market but it might do a bit better than this, being a big city. However, it doesn't strike me as the type of city that goes wild for antiques so maybe not.

Total investment is $50. So.. That's good. Thank you.

The desk probably had hanging file frames. It would actually sell very well indeed over here.
