Questions about two spoons. Pretty sure these are 19C. Here they both are, but I'm going to post in separate threads. Curious about age, maker, purpose and handle material. Thanks!

Additional photos below for the lower spoon/strainer.

Clearly has had a repair, may have happened a while ago.

Forgive the following photo, I had to laugh when I loaded it in. Was trying to get a close up of the mark and instead got kind of an artsy-goof! Thought I'd share...lol!

    Appreciate the help on these!

The 12 is likely in the Loth system of purity. Used before 1886 in Germany and Prussia. 12 is the equivalent of 0.750 in the decimal system. Normally there should be a city mark, but I do not see a T city mark on 925/1000 site.

Elegant pieces. Closeup of the handles? I would think bone or ivory would be more likely than celluloid.

It looks like an absinthe sugar spoon.... https://www.etsy.com/listing/1304464118/french-vintage-absinthe-spoon-sifter

Thank you Bakers, MOS and Holly. :)

I can try for more close ups of the handles tomorrow when the outdoor light returns!

I agree, a natural material. Could even be antler, which can yellow when used a lot.
The spoon in that lising is a regular sugar sifter imo.
Absinthe sugar cube spoons are either long and flat, or the spoon has a (tripod) construction to rest on top of the glass.
Either way, the spoon has to rest on top of the glass that contains the absinthe.

    Two modern examples:

This is how an absinthe sugar spoon is used, the sugar drips into the absinthe:

I heard that Henry Fonda liked absinthe, until his doctor's warned him there could be cardiac consequences. They told him "Absinthe makes the heart grow, Fonda."

    (sorry)
