Not sure what it is made of. Clay slip, or plaster?
Reproduction or original student or hobbyist work?
    Thanks

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

The title could be "My Spouse Doesn't Understand Me".
I will guess plaster. Actually appealing... kinda melancholy.
Modigliani-esque, but much less "finished". If no signature found, probably a student piece after M?

Thanks for the reply. No signature found but I'll recheck again.
Maybe it was influenced by other artist buy I don't see pure Modigliani style.

Agreed... far from pure... just was the closest thing that came to me.

The two have apparently cemented a friendship.

Maybe an Austin productions piece without the base? I have a couple and they are marked on the base.

Spring... looks more like a marriage than a friendship to me.

I thought Austin were always marked in the pieces too? I don't see any glue residue or drilled holes so if there was a base not sure how the sculpture would have been mounted to it.
Now when I think again, maybe not a student piece.

If it's cast in plaster you can usually poke a fingernail into it and it will leave a slight mark. If it's a plaster polymer casting it will be much harder, we have a product called Jesmonite here in uk which is a plaster polymer suitable for indoor display. There are cement polymer products that can go outside though. Garden centre Haddonstone is something sold here.

Here in the US, a product called Hydrocal sounds similar. Harder than plaster but similar in appearance. This looks like a mass produced molded product to me. Similar things sold roadside and in flea markets here.
