Moghul cannon. @springfld.arsenal would probably like them for his front door. I've heard of hooped cannon with wooden barrels, but never seen any before.

Looks like someone married old cart wheels and Newell posts to make some decorative objects. I’ve seen real Moghul cannons and they were incredible bronze castings, typically with lion or tiger? head-shaped muzzle, trunnions, and cascabel. I was buying cannons from an older man in Santa Monica, but ran out of money and didn’t buy his 6 ft. Long bronze Moghul cannon decorated as described. He wanted $8k. An English guy bought it before I could return with the $. He sold it 30 years later for about $300k.

Good on him! Wish you'd gotten there first, but somebody made bank. I found a picture of a cannon like the one you described, but the writing was in Russian...and right now I am NOT clicking on Russian stuff. OTOH I did find a Wiki for the descendants of British Indian families. There's a picture of a really ornate bronze cannon and a "tiger mortar". The mortar has four paws and a tail!

On the topic of wooden guns with iron hoops:

Duffy has a fantastic collection and is constantly expanding the knowledge base of Civil War artillery.
