Really is a beautiful set. M Bros, 1900, Birmingham hallmarked.

Was wondering is these were salt cellars? Thanks

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I like the way they are displayed in the case.

They are truly beautiful aren't they. I was reluctant to put the up for sale, but they just sit in the drawer. I'd rather someone enjoy them. The case is superb also. All round excellent item.

In Britain they would fetch metal value at auction.

It's the bits you don't want to keep for yourself that no one else is very keen on either. Sad fact. At the moment these are what we call 'Yesterday's Antiques'.

10 years and a change of buyers and they could be hot again. Just now they are not.

Antique dealers should have their brains wiped every ten years. Stuff that used to sell fast and high, that suddenly seems plentiful and cheap is that way for a reason, the punters have stopped buying it and it's only stick in the mud dealers who keep the stuff circulating.

I think you're right, Af, but it's a shame. I think classical beauty stays classically beautiful, even if not popular at the moment.

    It's a wonderful set!
