Hello everyone - I went shopping today and needless to say came home with still more stuff. At least most of the items were small this time. One of the pieces was this little jar which I thought might be Danish, but after searching a bit I have come to realize it's probably Russian (7 rubles, 30 kopecks?). It stands 5 1/2" high, 3" wide and has an exterior and interior lid (interior lid is repaired). I would appreciate any help in determining manufacturer, age, or even use. Thanks in advance!

That's the price alright. And something to do with the Olympics?

Beyond the recent Sochi games, was the only other Russian hosting in 1980? (the one we and a lot of other countries boycotted?)

Hi Bakersgma - I wondered about those rings! Thanks for clearing that up - that explains most of the mark!

Yup, 1980 souvenir. Probably sweets, I think.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

There is a good site for Russian porcelain marks that right now I can't find. I think maybe janetpjohn knows what it is? That would be the mark to the left of the Olympic logo, or maybe the little blue mark to the right of it.

I think it's one of the unknown marks, but not absolutely sure.

I think it's for loose tea. Russians used to drink a lot of it, when they weren't using something more potent, and the double lid would keep the tea from going stale as quickly. It would work for pipe tobacco too, but odds are on tea.
