Ruby Stained Glass Candy Dish

Was wondering if anyone knows the maker and pattern name of this candy dish. Swirl design with raised dots around the rim and the top the lid. Measures 9 1/4" tall and is 6 1/2" wide.

I would call it ruby flashed glass, not stained.

Hi Antidiem,
Ruby flashed means that a red layer of glass was "melted" on to the piece. When you see some of the red wearing off it is stained. A stain or paint was added. It is a mistake a lot of people make.

In looking at the photos again, I realize the problem is that I simply cannot see well enough to distinguish that it is a stain. It is definitely stained though and not flashed glass. I guess I'm going to bow out of trying to id stuff unless there is a photo to show detail. The devil is always in the details.

This needs repeated over and over.

Only blown glass can be flashed, Before it is formed, the gather of molten glass is dipped in a pot of another color, putting a thin layer of color over the out side. This cannot be done with pressed glass only because it would be mixed through the glass (this is how slag is made). Pressed glass must be stained, a layer of transparent paint is applied to the outside of the finished piece of glass and it is re-fired to fuse the stain with the outer skin of the glass.
